The 2018 Newton Family Reunion

2018-07-28

July 28th – Newton Family Reunion

What a perfect day for the reunion.
Matt was able to acquire the Middle Falls Pavilion this year.
We have a view of the new railroad bridge!
We have a total of 42 family members attending. (A few arrived after the first counting!)

The weather is gorgeous and the food is delicious!
We cooked the chicken ahead of time and just had to heat it up and cook hotdogs.
Thanks for the cooking help from Bob, Ray Greene and Linda.
Nancy did a great job organizing the food and set-up.
With the meats, rolls and all the dishes brought in…we are ready to go.
Matt had us step out in front of the Newton sign for a couple quick photos.
After the photo session about 15 more folks arrived!

Pastor Ray Greene (One of Esther Greene’s sons) opened in prayer. Ray’s large group include Ray, his wife Carolyn, their daughter Anna and their daughter Amanda, her husband Eric and eight of their nine children.
What a fun group! It should also be mentioned that Lois Bouton’s family was here.
Mike, his wife Adine, Rick’s daughter Teresa and her friend Tony.
It was fun seeing them all at the reunion this year.
Next the noise and the eating began.
The food was terrific as always and it was fun to chat and visit.
Last years minutes were read and Eric Bressi passed the hat. $75.00 was collected!

Next we had the elections.
Matthew Klimek and Linda Pfannenschmidt ran un-opposed so they WON again!
Congratulations to your President and Secretary!

On to Bob’s starting the auction.
Thanks to Matthew’s sound system he was able to be heard!
The bids were slow starting but by the end almost everything was sold.
Cindy Perry’s children did a great job of buying.
We took in $42.20 plus an Eight dollar donation.
Now we have $125.20 towards the pavilion and expenses for next year.

Jordan Muecki was kind to offer to haul out our trash just like his dad used to do.
We love Jordan but sure miss his mom and dad, Brenda and Randy.

Thanks to all who attended and helped make the reunion successful.
Come back next year and invite all the relatives again.
We are looking forward to the 2019 Newton Reunion.
You can’t miss it because Matt will keep you informed! See you then…..

The New Bridge

Words That Are Written Quickly
by Matthew P. Klimek (The Elected President)

Each and Every Year, the reunion falls upon us.
When I was younger, I would look at the reunion with assurance that my Grandmother and Great Grandparents would always be there and everything would be alright.
Such a memory is now 42 years in the past.

Each year, I try my best to plan the meal and remember everything; I don't know if all would have gone nearly as well if it weren't for Mom and Bob.
I didn't sleep at all the night before and, at the end, I was agitated to the extent that I didn't fall asleep until Sunday morning after watching a few movies.
I suppose for someone that was not well rested, it is suitable to say that the reunion can be a emotionally draining experience; waiting for someone that simply is not around any longer to show up.
I was very pleased that my Uncle Ray arrived with his family; people that I have always been close to.

Relatives arrived that haven't been seen in years.
It was worth the effort.
I hope to see many of you next year.
